What My Clients Say:

"I will start out by saying I have struggled with anxiety and depression for half of my life. I was at a point of my life that I was searching for anything I havnt tried. Three years ago I found a therapist that offered EMDR. I was nervous like everything else in my life I tried. However, going to weekly appointments using EMDR has changed my life. Not only has my anxiety decreased and my depression rarely shows back up , I can live a normal life without being scared of everything. EMDR has help me with my childhood traumas and has shown me that there is a light at the end of a dark tunnel. I can’t thank of any way possible to be more grateful about finding this amazing treatment. EMDR is life changing."

"I was in a car accident and went through many different individuals to try to find some therapeutic relief for the mental trauma I was experiencing after. Tonya was able to
make great strides using traditional therapeutic techniques we think of like talking and discussing the event, but she truly took me to another level of wholeness again when she introduced me to EMDR Therapy. I struggled to look at the color yellow, drive by certain trucks, and many other things that, using EMDR with Tonya just an hour each session, was able to dig deep to find the root cause of these issues and move forward with my life. In a few weeks doing only an hour each session, all the things I mentioned before had gone away and I was able to live present and enjoy time with my friends and family again more than I had ever before. If you truly want to experience life the way it should be lived and work through trauma you may have experienced yourself, I highly recommend doing EMDR sessions with Tonya."

"I have been in counseling off and on for at least 30+ years—talk therapy to be precise.
It helped apply emotional bandaids, but was never enough to address underlying issues, fears. I was often either anxious or depressed. Life was a challenge trying to maintain a semblance of a functional job, marriage and children. Off and on, I went through periods of deep depression.
Life continued to challenge me. There was an ultimate takedown at the end of my career which exploded my life into shards of chaos. I hit depths I have never known in my life. I did whatever I could to eradicate my soul pain. It was at this point my daughter told me I needed more and different help. She gave me the names of several people treating alcohol abuse and severe depression. That is how I met Tonya. Through a combination of meds and a new counseling technique called EMDR, I began to emerge from a living hell.

The EMDR sessions with either tapping (through the pandemic) or using the light bar offered me a new door into healing. The session itself is sometimes difficult (mostly revealing feelings and memories), but cathartic. Knowing I was growing, changing and healing has kept me dedicated to the method. The positive results in outlook and understanding have been enormous.
Here is the magic of EMDR: after many tears in the session, subsequent days provided enormous relief from emotional pain and the ability to process the stuck and unproductive emotions that have plagued me for so very long. The brain does the rewiring work alone which provides healing and progress. New appreciations and comprehensions come naturally.

Until EMDR, I couldn’t separate feelings, beliefs, emotions and new behavioral ways forward. Working with Tonya has given me tools, perspective, and an understanding that has permitted me to change my cognition and life in ways I never thought possible. I have welcomed my days back into normalcy and light. I highly recommend this treatment to anyone who wants to feel whole from past trauma and make peace with what life sends."

"My experience doing EMDR over the past 4 years has been life changing, and I’m not sure that I could have made as much progress with traditional talk therapy. It is difficult to articulate how EMDR works, but it has allowed me to feel things that I have previously been too afraid or ashamed to feel. Although every session is not always a pleasant experience, I have learned that I can move through any emotional discomfort and end up with a more positive outlook"

I was a bit resistant to trying EMDR. There were a couple of topics/memories that definitely poked on me emotionally, however, I felt that since I intellectually understood the causes, I just needed to work harder on them not bothering me.

It was amazing the difference EMDR made in these situations. After a few sessions, the heightened emotional responses were gone. It was like the intellectual understanding was finally the first response rather than an emotional one.

I would recommend considering this modality if it is suggested. I wish I would have agreed to try it sooner frankly!

"I was very skeptical to try EMDR therapy at first. I had been going to talk therapy with Tonya for a few months and she had encouraged me to try it, but I was not sure it would work for me and frankly it sounded really “out there” to my rational brain. Finally, I gave in and gave it a shot and I was amazed! We addressed several subjects and areas through EMDR and with all I noticed an immediate difference in how I felt and was able to deal with these subjects for the better. The talk therapy was still helpful, but EMDR really pushed me over the edge of where I needed to go with respect to healing trauma. After each session I would say “What else can we use this for??”. I would highly recommend this technique to anyone!"
