Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use my health insurance for my EMDR Intensive?
No. Unfortunately, health insurance does not cover EMDR Intensives. I will require that you sign an "Opt Out" form noting that you are aware your insurance does not cover this service and that you are choosing to opt out of using your insurance.
  • How do I schedule an EMDR Intensive?
Your first step is to schedule a free 30 minute consultation with me. During the consultation, I will be asking you many questions to determine if you are a good fit for an EMDR Intensive. If it is determined you are a good fit, we can schedule the EMDR Intensive at that time.
  • How can I prepare for the free 30-minute consultation?
First of all, please, please read ALL of the information on my website about EMDR and EMDR Intensives, including watching the videos. I am happy to answer any questions my website might not have answered for you, however, if we spend the majority of the 30 minutes with me explaining what EMDR is we won't have time for me to assess to see if you are a good fit. Be prepared to provide the names and doses of any medications you are taking. Be prepared to share your substance use history. Have 1 - 3 issues in mind you want to work on in your EMDR Intensive. At this time, we won't go into great detail about your issues. You will simply identify them. If you sign up for an EMDR Intensive, your first 90 minute session is when we get into those issues on a much deeper level. Be prepared to share your past counseling and/or EMDR experiences. NOTE: The 30 minute consultation is very structured. We need to stay on task and not veer off course. This is NOT a therapy session. It is strictly for answering any questions you might have and determining if you are a good fit for an EMDR Intensive.
  • How do I reserve an EMDR Intensive session?
First, schedule the 30 minute Free Consultation. If we both agree this would be a good fit for you, a 50% deposit is required at the time of scheduling. You may pay via cash, check or Mastercard/Visa. After you have paid your deposit and reserved your Intensive, I will send you your Personalized Treatment Workbook.
  • When are payments due?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time you book your EMDR Intensive. The remaining 50% is due on the first day of the Intensive. I accept cash, check and Mastercard/Visa.
  • What is your cancellation and refund policy?
I completely understand how life can mess up our plans such as an unexpected illness, crisis, or even simple forgetfulness. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the EMDR Intensive I am unable to offer any refund of the 50% deposit. As soon as you schedule with me, I am getting busy personalizing your workbook and doing other tasks that are essential to having a successful EMDR Intensive. I am already investing in you before we have even gotten started. I will do my very best to reschedule your EMDR Intensive, however, I cannot guarantee any specific time frames. If you are able to reschedule your 50% deposit will be transferred to your new Intensive date. I do not offer any refunds if you are unhappy with your outcome or your expectations were not met. I conduct a very thorough assessment on you to make sure you are a good candidate for the Intensive. You might not notice immediate relief from your target. Sometimes positive shifting comes in very unexpected ways, can be subtle and slowly build to "in your face", and is not always immediately felt or noticed the day the Intensive ends. If I make a clinical decision to end the Intensive early, for any reason, I will refund the part of the Intensive you were unable to use. This would be a rare case and is why I conduct such a thorough assessment.
  • Who can benefit from EMDR Intensives?
EMDR Intensives are perfect for people that are ready for relief now. If you're ready to see things change in your life and your relationship with yourSelf but you don't want to wait for that to happen next year, an EMDR Intensive may be right for you. If you have a specific trauma, topic or stressor that you need to heal from or simply need support with, these are all targets for your EMDR Intensive. The dedicated time will be customized specifically to you and your personal goals.
  • Why should I do an EMDR Intensive instead of a normal 53 minute counseling session?
An EMDR Intensive is an accelerated form of therapy designed to help you go deeper and get results faster. EMDR Intensives are more effective and efficient than weekly, 53 minute counseling sessions. Typically, in a 53 minute session, there are at least 5-10 minutes of "check-in" at the start of the session and usually, 5-10 minutes spent on "closing up" or "exploring what came up" at the end of the session. This leaves only 30-40 minutes for deep therapeutic work. EMDR Intensives are different. We are super focused only on your specific target without any untimely interruptions. A 3 hour EMDR Intensive allows for approximately 2.5 hours of in-depth work. That's the equivalent of about five 53 minute sessions or more than a month of counseling. EMDR Intensives achieve so much more in a single day.
  • If I already have a counselor, can I do an EMDR Intensive as adjunct therapy?
Absolutely! In fact, I would love it if you were already working with a counselor on a regular basis. I would ask that you sign a Release of Information so that your current counselor and I can collaborate and coordinate to best help you.
  • I have some questions first before I am ready to schedule a consultation.  How do I do that?
Feel free to email me or call. I can respond to emails quicker than a phone call. Examples of questions asked outside of the consultation: * When is your next availability? * Specific EMDR or EMDR Intensive questions. * Will my medication and/or substance use impact the EMDR process?

If you have any questions not answered here, please send me a message through the                             and you will receive a response within 24 hours.
